Lazy Saturday Morning..

So this is kindof funny....Brenten being in school has kindof thrown our family for a whirl. If you know us at all you know that we are not a morning family. I hear all the time from people how their kids wake them up early...not at our house, we taught our children the value of sleeping in (basically you're on your own WE need our sleep!!) :) We have been so spoiled because our kids go to sleep around 9:30-10:00 and then sleep until 9:30-10:00...UNTIL NOW! Brenten has to be at school at 7:55am and that means everyone else has to be up too. Its been and adjustment. We've really adopted a new schedule...dinner at 6 bath at 7 and bed by 8...and really everyone's done well, but needless to say we were pretty excited for Saturday morning to get here to SLEEP IN! Yesterday we told the Brenten and Lexie they could stay up a little bit, but we were NOT getting up early...it was sleep in day for the fam. My kids take things to heart and gratefully didn't come wake us up...instead when they woke (still early maybe sleep in days really ARE over) Brenten fixed him and Lex a little breakfast and then got busy cleaning the kitchen....this is what we got up to (at 9:30am)

The Goldings came to LOGAN!!

Last weekend, Grandma and Grandpa came to visit! We had so much fun while they were here
and hope they want to come again! They came on Friday, in time to go pick Brenten up from school....Friday night we had pizza and movies. On Saturday we all got up and Grandma, Lexie and I went shopping, while the boys made a birdhouse (Brenten's request) Later that afternoon we took a beautiful drive up Smithfield Canyon and had a great picnic while the kids pretended to fish, but mostly splashed in the water..On Sunday we started off the day with Omlets ala Nick and then later went over to a park by our house...it is a beautiful park with lots of trees and play areas, there is also this place where Brenten tried his hand at fishing once again! In this picture Grandma and Grandpa are showing Lexie some fish swimming in the water...there are all kinds of fish in there, and some were HUGE! The water was clear enough you could watch them swimming. On Monday it was back to real life, Grandpa did get to walk Brenten to school, and then they packed up and headed back home (to work on Mom's table) We really were so glad they came...invitations open to come back soon!!

So it is here.....Brenten's FIRST day of FIRST grade!!! AHHH!!! We went to his "Back to School" night last night and met his teacher, MRS. LLOYD, she seemed nice, and we saw his new CLASSROOM his room is lucky number 7!! Brenten was pretty excited for this morning to get here he had a hard time getting to sleep, but bright & EARLY his alarm clock rang! He looked GREAT in his new school clothes, he picked his outfit (I should have gotten him a new pair of shorts and a tee shirt~he is going to be so HOT today!) And off we went!
Walking into his school...
Are we SURE this school is READY?????
Last night for Back to School night

Congratulations Mrs. M.!!!

This post is for my mom! I could not be prouder of her if I tried....today, in a lot of ways she starts kindof a new life...one that she has been working so hard for the last
3 1/2 years to achieve, today my mom will stand in front of 30+ third graders as their TEACHER!!! I know that she is nervous, and doubts her abilities, but I also know that she will be the BEST teacher to those kids! She IS prepared, she IS ready, and I KNOW she'll do GREAT!!!! Good Luck mom!! I LOVE YOU!

Did I mention we had BUTTERFLIES??

For Christmas Ashlee gave my kids a butterfly garden...when it was finally warm enough we sent away for caterpillars and had a week or two of butterfly fun. It really was so much fun for the kids, and interesting too. Our butterflies arrived on a Tuesday, but Sunday they had all turned into Chrysalis, and a week or so later we had our first butterfly, a day or two after that we had five butterflies...we said good bye and released them on July 23rd. Brenten and Lexie had lots of fun learning and watching there "bik-i-ful fluller-flies"

The caterpillars arrived, and the kids were happy to watch them...they made
their own little caterpillars, and colored a HUGE butterfly picture. Brenten kept
a butterfly journal so he could keep track of their changes.

Before long we had five chrysilads and we moved them to their butterfly habitat.

This is one butterfly just out of its cacoon, I saw it coming out, it was pretty cool. When they are first out their wings are all rolled up tight, before long they dry out and stretch out to look like a normal butterfly. One thing we found surprising was how messy they were. Apparently when the caterpillar turns into a butterfly in the cacoon...the moisture left over kinda drips from their wings....their whole habitat was covered in little red splotches...it looked kindof like red koolaid all over the place!

Time to let the butterflies go...

"Butterfly Butterfly happy all day.... Butterfly Butterflies fly fly aways!"

The 4th

So for the 4th I mentioned we went to Lewiston (about 10-15 minutes north of Logan) and saw there parade...later that night we headed back for their firework show as well. Logan is strange...they do not have fireworks on the 4th. The USU has a Stadium show (think small scale Stadium of Fire) but that is on the 3rd, Hyrum has a parade on the 4th but they do their fireworks on the 2nd...yeah this valley is WIERD. We are glad we got to see a parade and fireworks though!

Waiting for the parade to start...

Lexie thought the sirens were way too loud

They both thought this stilt guy was pretty cool
