Did I mention we had BUTTERFLIES??

For Christmas Ashlee gave my kids a butterfly garden...when it was finally warm enough we sent away for caterpillars and had a week or two of butterfly fun. It really was so much fun for the kids, and interesting too. Our butterflies arrived on a Tuesday, but Sunday they had all turned into Chrysalis, and a week or so later we had our first butterfly, a day or two after that we had five butterflies...we said good bye and released them on July 23rd. Brenten and Lexie had lots of fun learning and watching there "bik-i-ful fluller-flies"

The caterpillars arrived, and the kids were happy to watch them...they made
their own little caterpillars, and colored a HUGE butterfly picture. Brenten kept
a butterfly journal so he could keep track of their changes.

Before long we had five chrysilads and we moved them to their butterfly habitat.

This is one butterfly just out of its cacoon, I saw it coming out, it was pretty cool. When they are first out their wings are all rolled up tight, before long they dry out and stretch out to look like a normal butterfly. One thing we found surprising was how messy they were. Apparently when the caterpillar turns into a butterfly in the cacoon...the moisture left over kinda drips from their wings....their whole habitat was covered in little red splotches...it looked kindof like red koolaid all over the place!

Time to let the butterflies go...

"Butterfly Butterfly happy all day.... Butterfly Butterflies fly fly aways!"

The 4th

So for the 4th I mentioned we went to Lewiston (about 10-15 minutes north of Logan) and saw there parade...later that night we headed back for their firework show as well. Logan is strange...they do not have fireworks on the 4th. The USU has a Stadium show (think small scale Stadium of Fire) but that is on the 3rd, Hyrum has a parade on the 4th but they do their fireworks on the 2nd...yeah this valley is WIERD. We are glad we got to see a parade and fireworks though!

Waiting for the parade to start...

Lexie thought the sirens were way too loud

They both thought this stilt guy was pretty cool

Ridin' a Two-Wheeler

Brenten got a bike for his birthday...in March....I tried a time or two to teach him, both times the second he got off balance (we didn't even make to a crash) he decided he'd wait for his dad to teach him. I guess it was a good idea because when his dad taught him it didn't take much time at all to figure it out!

Starting down the driveway and onto the sidewalk....

Barely hangin on...and look he's on his own!!

The End of Tee Ball

For Brenten's final tee ball game his team played the Twins...one of his friends Lannah is on that team so it was pretty fun. Lexie loved the fact that she had Delaney and Maelee to play with during the game!
Brenten and Coach Nathan
Brenten and Lannah at first!
A few more shots of Brentens "skills"
Brenten and his sis at the end of the game...Lex can't wait until she can play too!
Lexie was her brothers loudest cheer leader..."Lets go Brenten!!"

So behind on blogging!!

Wow...were the heck did July go? I can't believe there is only one week left...It seems like we've been busy but as usual I wonder "doing what???" We have had a few things worth documenting I suppose...Brenten finished up Tee Ball, he had lots of fun and can't wait for next year! He also learned to ride a "two-wheeler" no training wheels! He's pretty proud. As for this month July is crazy for everyone I suppose...we had a great 4th...we went to a parade out in Lewiston...if you want small town you don't get much smaller! Then the next day went to the Cache Valley Cruisin'. The Cruisin' is a parade of old-restored cars...I had never been even though its here every year...this year we made it...fun yes, but really quite a long parade of old cars...driving...past you...again...and again. It was good though. I tried to snap some pictures but everytime I would see a car I loved someone would walk in front, or a different car would pass...needless to say I didn't get too many photos of that event oh well as Nick says once you've seen one car you've seen them all. Then on the weekend we had some friends over for a barbeque. Then fast forward to the 24th and it was party time again. Every year my family comes to Logan for a "Cowboy Party" This year I decided to try my hand at dutch oven cooking---I think it turned out rather well but really Nick's Homemade Ice Cream really stole the show. The kids had fun though, they love playing with there cousins and we ended the night watching fireworks and playing Guitar Hero on the house. Hopefully you'll stick around through a million shots at what we've been up to! Thanks for looking!!

And the Carnival....

Here's Lexie tickets in hand ready to ride...
The kids usually get to ride 2 or 3 rides (the carnival is a rip-off)
but this year we ended up with extra bonus tickets since my dad was on the Strawberry Days committee....so the kids got to ride what felt like a million rides (to the adults standing in 100degree weather in carni-land) It was lots of fun!!

The first ride they chose was a little Train ride...

Then onto a ride with little cars and motorcycles, Lexie and Hailey rode in the cars while Brenten, Mckenna, and Kaitlyn rode the motorcycles

Everyone got a chance to ride the carousel a couple of times...

It didn't take long to tire out Lindsey

The kids all loved this off-roading ride...

I think the favorite though was the flying dragon ride....
All in all we had a great time...sorry to those of you we didn't see and to those of you we did
THANKS for Everything!!!!

The Parade and Carnival

The Strawberry days festivities would not be complete with out the parade and carnival...we always sit over by Harts so we can have easy access to a drink and donut and watch the entertainment PG has to offer....did ANY of you girls (Brook, Shelly, Alicia) go to the parade?????
Brenten in his trophy-tee from the night before...
Holly and Mom and Brice's feet...little Lindsey is there in the background. Brice ran the Strawberry Days 5k that morning I guess he can be laying down to rest....
Drinks and donuts...doesn't get better than that!!

More fun at Strawberry Days

Just a few more rodeo shots....what would Strawberry days be without
the actual Strawberries??? Strawberries and Cream...yum!

Here is Mckenna, Kaitlyn, Brenten and Hailey. For as much as Lexie loved
the cows she was not going to turn her back to them...even just for a quick picture!

Here is Kaitlyn and Brenten and Mckenna checking out the babie steers.
