Woodruff Elementary Presents......

Here he is, singing and dancing his way through the annual "Woodruff Elementary Dance Program" I am so sad because as you can see most(all) of my pictures are pretty blurry...I had the wrong settings on my camera....I suppose it takes trial and error to learn new things but I'm still sad! Oh well I wanted to post his photos anyway so without further ado.....BRENTEN!

Practicing....

Brenten's school had a singing/dancing program today and we got to go watch Brenten perform! Its was so much fun to watch his class...they wore blue hats, and sang about their love for a frog!! These are a few pictures of Brenten singing his song for me at home...

Hardware Ranch

Okay this is it I promise! (for now anyways) On Sunday afternoon we decided to go for a drive..I brought my camera along to play. We went up Hyrum canyon to see Hardware Ranch. It was raining and snowing, but still a pretty drive...we saw probably a million deer and an eagle and some elk too!

In the winter, Hardware Ranch serves as an Elk Refuge (thats probably not the right word but oh well) Anyway as you can see there are tons of elk, I wish they would have been closer so we could have taken better pictures---there is a wagon ride that takes you out closer...maybe we'll try that sometime!
Brenten really like watching all of the Elk...I don't know if you can tell from the pictures, but there were a few with some serious antlers!
I thought is was cool to see this Eagle just hangin out...its not too often you see a Bald Eagle outside of the Zoo!

Let's Go AGGIES!!

On Friday night, we were lucky enough to score tickets to the Aggie Basketball game...they played UCSB and WON!! I can't remember the final score ( I know, I struggle) but the Aggies were 70--and that was more than UCSB!! Brenten and Lexie had lots of fun and loved getting all dressed up to go...they had matching shirts, and tatoos! Their favorite part was probably the snowcones and hotdogs--but Lexie absolutely loved BIG BLUE! Brenten was really into the game, and the few times the Aggies got behind he would lean forward in his seat and mutter "Come on guys, we need some points..." I loved it!

Birthday Fun

My kids got to go their friend, Avery's, birthday on Friday afternoon....it was a fairy themed party (Leprachauns for the boys) and Melanie made cute dress ups for everyone! Lexie wasn't sold on the idea of dressing up...but they had lots of fun

Lots of things to post!!

Hi everyone!
We are usually very boring people, but to us had quite a busy weekend...so prepare for lots of posts!! Also I got a new camera and started some photography classes on Saturday so be prepared for an onslaught of pictures!! Thanks for looking!!

Brenten-O

When I was a younger I loved to read at night, I always get wrapped up in what I am reading and can't put my book down--this was true when I was 10 as well as now! I remember sneaking flashlights into bed to read after I should have been asleep, I now just make sure I have a lamp next to my bed! Apparently Brenten is following in my footsteps, the other night after we had read stories, said prayers, and I tucked him in, he got back up turned on his lamp and piled the books into bed with him...when I went to check on him before I went to bed this is what I found...not the most comfortable sleep position I am sure!!

New Years Resolution

Okay, one of my New Year's resolutions is to try new recipes, the other night I tried a new one and it was way good, so I thought I would share! It was way easy to make, and pretty healthy I think (we cut down the butter and oil a little bit). Cheesy as this sounds it was light and fresh, a little glimpse of spring food!! :) If you aren't a fan of shrimp, I am sure that you could substitute grilled chicken and it would still be great! Try it--you'll like it!!

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Cook Time: 25 Minutes Prep Time: 15 Minutes Ready In: 40 Minutes

Ingredients:

1 (8oz) Package linguini pasta

1 Tbsp olive oil

6 cloves of garlic (I cut this down a bit too)

1/2 cup chicken broth

1/4 cup white wine

1 lemon-juiced

1/2 tsp lemon zest

salt to taste

2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1 pound shrimp-peeled and deveined

1/4 cup butter

3 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

1 tbsp chopped fresh basil

Directions: Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to boil, add linguini, and cook 9-13 minutes until al dente; drain

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, and saute garlic about 1 minute. Mix in chicken broth, wine, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and simmer until liquid is reduced by about 1/2.

Mix shrimp, butter, parsley, and basil into the saucepan. Cook 2-3 minutes, until the shrimp is opaque. Stir in cooked linguini, and continue cooking 2 minutes, until well coated.

Sick kids are NO fun!!

So for the last week we have had sick kids at our house...no fun! Brenten started us off a week ago on Monday when he wasn't feeling well, he got progressively worse until Friday when he finally start feeling a little better. Lexie started her round on Friday night and got worse and worse until about Monday of this week. She still has a horrible cough, but is definately on the mend. So mostly we haven't been doing much of anything except laying around! The other night, Lexie "was no tired mom".....a few minutes later this is how she was watching her "Straw-ba-ba-berry" movie

Stamp Night

Last night started another round of my Stampin Up club! I am excited we have a big club this year~ hopefully its fun for everyone. Usually we meet on Thursdays, but since my kids were sick last week we had to reschedule for Tuesday. Because of that a couple of people couldn't make it so I am posting photos of our projects! We made two 3x3 valentine cards and a couple of treat covers!

This Little Girl........

I don't know what to do sometimes with this little girl! She can be such a little stinker...but yet she is such a sweetheart too! Life is an adventure for her~ and she keeps us running far more than her brother ever did. To all those that said BOYS are the troublemakers---they have never lived with Brenten and Lexie!! The other day Brenten had gone to his friends to play, his friend lives pretty close to our house but it had been snowing so when it was time to go get him I put Lexie in her carseat and we went to go pick him up...now because it was just around the block I didn't fasten Lexie all the way...if you have kids or seen carseats I had pulled the bar down over her head and buckled that, but the chest harness part I hadn't buckled. Anyway so off to Mason's house we go...we get there and I run up to the door to get him--leaving Lexie in the car. BIG MISTAKE, after Brenten had found his backpack and put on his shoes, and said Goodbye we head down to the car...strangely enough when I go to open my door its LOCKED! Lexie is sitting there grinning at me! She had wrestled herself out of her carseat and climbed into the front seat and was pretending to drive!! Don't worry the illusion was perfect for her because the keys were in IGNITION! So here is Brenten and myself sitting in the driveway, locked out of our car trying to figure out what to do...Nick has the only spare key and he was in Salt Lake, so I am trying to point to the lock to have Lexie pull it up to unlock it, and she is just laughing and giggling and waving at me thinking I am sure that this is the greatest game! She danced from window to window, front seat and backseat, for probably 20 minutes while I am trying desperately to have her unlock the door....(Meanwhile mortified thinking I am going to have to go tell Jessica that my 2 year old has locked herself in my car, with the keys in ignition) Finally we got lucky, this is where Brenten saves the day~ Lexie leaned on the control panel for the windows, and the passenger side window starts going down...Brenten was leaning against that window and starts shouting "Mom the window, the window" he hurried and stuck is arm in and pulled up the lock! Finally we get in our car!!! THANK YOU BRENTEN!!! Never again will we go anywhere no matter how close without Lexie fully strapped in!!
